Collins College Visits Singapore, Taiwan, Korea, and Shanghai via Student Outreach Program
TEMPE, Ariz. (Business Wire EON) April 2, 2008 -- "Attracting international students promotes a greater knowledge about the world and our increasingly interdependent global economy. It also makes good business sense. According to the Department of Commerce, international education is the fifth-largest service export in the United States," said Dr. Timothy Dosemagen, provost for Collins College.
A report from the Institute of International Education states that foreign students spent more than $20 billion in 2006-2007 in the United States, about half on tuition and fees and half on living expenses. The report estimated that $14.5 billion came from the students' home countries, mostly from personal and family sources. The report, which was largely financed by the State Department, says that less than a third of students got their primary financing from United States sources.
"In addition, the devaluation of the American dollar is making a college education in the United States more affordable than it used to be," said Dosemagen.
Collins College is participating in educational fairs with the American International Education Foundation (AIEF), a non-profit organization that brings together international students with the U.S. educational system.
